在磐石上也可避開天然災害，因此摩西用磐石來讓人民思想上帝的保護

在曠野中明白自己的軟弱、讓人謙卑、體會上帝的保護、學習以靠上帝

基督是靈磐石一直隨著我們(林前10:4)

供應我們、給我們保護

申32:15 但耶書崙漸漸肥胖，粗壯，光潤，踢跳，奔跑，便離棄造他的神，輕看救他的磐石；
